Engine swap on 93 isuzu pickup

Hey everyone i have a 93 isuzu pickup with a 2.3l engine. Ive been wanting to do an engine swap on it. Finally have a reason to do it, the engine started to knock. So i would like to know what yall would recommend for the swap. Something that would be pretty simple and won't burn a hole in my wallet lol.

I put a C223 in mine. It is not simple per say and not easy on the wallet if you don't have a donor truck. The easiest and cheapest would be to pull the engine and replace the rod and bearing if the crank is not scarred.

And in my opinion, do this only because you are attached emotionally. There's nothing wrong with that, if you're willing to spend the time and money. But there is no economic justification (again, my opinion only).

A more direct swap bolt pattern-wise would be the 1.8 diesel (very underpowered for your truck) found in some early 80's chevettes and I-Mark Isuzus.
The 2.6 gas 4cyl would be an upgrade to the 2.3 if you can find a good one.
Or have a reputable machine shop rebuild your 2.3

Yeah the 2.6l was something i was looking into. I know that the transmission from a 2.3l bold on to the 2.6l. But what about the wiring harness or more so (radiator, alternator, carburetor) everything else that makes the engine run.
