Yes that is how i used to do it as well. But for some reason VHT has a 3 step process on this product. Each at increasing temperatures each with a cooldown in between i believe. I skipped the last step for fear of the oven incinerating itself and the house lol. That and my oven wont go that high. I figured by the time i got around to installing it the heat from the engine would finish it off. There can be many benifits from coatings. Almost every race team you can imagine uses this technology Nascar, NHRA drag racing tractor pulling and high performance diesel. Cerakote is another good choice along Molykote which im also using in this build. Some guys even Hard anodize there piston tops to prevent burning. It really is cutting edge technology. Some guys even coat there Hot-Side turbines as you spoke of Paul. Makes a significant differance in surface temperatures as well as significant power gains. Im not building a top fuel engine here obviously but merely adding life to the moving parts and possibly freeing up a few needed ponies. I suppose i could toss a 4bt inline pump on it if i could wire edm the pump cam profile right and possibly throw a compound turbo with water meth or nitrous on it lol but its not a tractor pull engine either. The stock rods would probably laugh at me and launch pistons thru my hood.

As far as the stock exhaust manifold goes i plan on making a 2 bolt to 3 bolt adapter as another member here did to then be able to bolt a 2 inch v-band onto onto the turbo hot side as well as exhaust side. Giving me some wiggle room hopefully. I also plan on doing away with the 50 amp alternator and trying to configure a bracket for a one wire gm AC/Delco. I need the extra power for fans, lights, gauges, stereo and electric vacuum pump. This will allow me to also have the oil feed dedicated for the turbo instead of that old leaky vacuum pump. But thats another whole thread in itself.

I have followed carefully your recent posts showing your rebuild of your c223. I am in the process of also rebuilding my C223 in my1982 Chevy Luv Diesel.

I have sent you a PM inquiring about rebuild parts availability. When you have a chance please respond.

Thanks

Well the rebuild is still on going. Ive gotten sidetracked as i bought another 1981 LUV shortbed with the G180z gasser for $550 bucks in Oklahoma then found another G180z engine in Kansas with 155k miles on it with the 4 speed to boot for $200. As soon as i make more progress i will continue to post updates. I think i got everything now but a ZU tattoo. Lol its some kinda addiction i suppose ...now i just need a 4wd trooper. Wishin i wouldnt have sold that one

This is the 81 Luv below and the one hauling the engine above is the 1982 LUV Mikado aka "my baby" that is eventually getting the fresh turboed c223. Now im searching for an offenhauser intake and a blow thru weber setup for the G180z. Oh my love for the isuzus

I also found this cool military surplus isuzu exhaust manifold that dumps out of the top front of the engine. I have no idea if it will fit but looking at it .."we shall see when it gets here" it looks like my 3 bolt t-15 will sit pretty right on top of it. I was going to make an adapter for the stock manifold but if this thing works omg....hopefully i dont have to cut a hole in my hood for the turbo !!!

Well the military exhaust fits the head perfectly however it interferes with the intake manifold just as i suspected. So there must be an intake manifold designed to run with this exhaust out there somewhere. More delays on the build as my machinist wants me to check my main bearing journals and clearsnces before we go thru with the boring work for the cylinder sleeves to make sure im happy with it without boring the main journals. The one thing i skipped and meant to do before taking the block to him. I got a tour of the shop build room and dyno while i was Hatfields Racing here in Joplin. Very nice setup and lots of nice serdi equipment. They currently have 5 engines in the build room now. They mainly cater to race teams but are kind enough to open the doors for guys like us too. I exaberated a coolant leak at my lower coolant housing on the mikado diesel while installing a new sanden sd508 compressor for my new ac system. Needless to say i had to pull my new compressor back off to repair and reseal the housing yesterday. Nothing like doing a job twice! As soon as repairs allow i will continue with my build as promised. Ive got way to much $$$$ sitting here in parts to not push on. But mind you i have 3 isuzu trucks and 3 G180s engines and 2 C223 diesels begging for my attention all at once lol. Guess there worse things to be addicted to in life.
